University Food Services: Solving Logistics

How Might we Reconstruct the Food Management Program at Syracuse University?

My role

I worked with a group of two other design classmates to research the current Syracuse University food services, develop an updated paperless system, and design a prototype. Aidan took on research, Emma and I both worked on the UX, and I designed the UI for this project.

Current Issues with the System?

Daily Mistakes

Dated UX/UI

Lack of Efficiency

Incompatible Systems

Reliance on Paper

Aidan Headrick

  1. In-app communication between the warehouse and dining halls.

  2. Order picking to optimize placement on the palette by weight/size and subvert human error of picking the wrong items.

  3. Order syncing - multiple users pick the dry and cold items in tandem.

  4. AI system to devise recipes from leftover food to reduce waste.

  5. Reduce the number of deliveries done in one day - specialty orders are done through the system and not over the phone.
